Well, they say variety is the spice of life, and I’ve certainly done a great variety of photography over the past few months. In addition to my fine art family photography, I help businesses to tell the story of what they do through a series of creative, artistic images, which is challenging but very rewarding.
Whether you sell aids for people with broken bones and bodies, like Flexyfoot, or are a ballet teacher or a builder, I believe this is a really important element to helping your business reinforce it’s brand and brand values. It doesn’t matter whether you simply have a website as a ‘shop window’ or have a very active social media presence. You probably know instinctively that we absorb visual information before we take in any written words. Think about a news article – we look at the pictures to decide whether we want to read about a story…for websites, we look at the colours, logos and graphics or images to decide whether it is upmarket or budget…or we look at someone’s profile picture and decide whether they are friendly, approachable…our kind of people.
The statistics say that we only remember 20% of what we read, but 80% of images we see. And of course, images are emotive and emotions drive buying decisions. Hence my belief that if we want someone to ‘buy into us’ – no matter what our business – we need the right images!
So now you know what I’m doing when I’m not out creating fine art family photography! Whether you are a ballet teacher or a builder…consider what your photographs say about your business and the experience a client will have with you.
